2. Technical approaches to improve sensor performance


I. Reasonable selection of structure, materials and parameters

According to the actual needs and possibilities, reasonably select materials, structural design sensors, ensure the main indicators, and give up the requirements of the secondary indicators, in order to obtain high cost performance, while meeting the use requirements, even for the main parameters cannot blindly pursue high indicators.


II. Differential Technology


Differential technology is a very effective method. For example, resistance strain sensors, inductive sensors, and capacitive sensors all use differential technology, which not only reduces nonlinearity, but also doubles sensitivity and offsets common error.


III. Average technology


Commonly used averaging techniques have error averaging effects and data averaging. Commonly used multi-point measurement schemes and multiple samples averaging are examples of this.


IV. Stability treatment


The reason for the instability of the sensor performance is that the performance of various materials and components that make up the sensor will change over time or as environmental conditions change. In order to improve the stability of the sensor performance, the necessary stability of the material, components or sensors should be performed as a whole. When using the sensor, if the measurement requirements are high, the additional adjustment components and the key components of the subsequent circuit should be aged if necessary.


V. Shielding, isolation and interference suppression


Shielding, isolation and interference suppression can effectively weaken or eliminate the effects of external influences on the sensor. For electromagnetic interference, shielding or isolation measures may be adopted or filtering or the like may be used for suppression.


VII. Zero display, differential method and closed loop technology?


These sensors can be used to eliminate or attenuate system errors when designing or applying sensors.


VIII. Compensation and correction


Compensation and correction can be solved by wires (hardware) using electronic technology; it can also be implemented by software using a microcomputer.


IX. Integration, intelligence and information integration?


Integration, intelligence and information fusion will greatly expand the sensor’s function, improve sensor performance and improve cost performance.
